What is in a name?

I'm sure I posted before about the fact that I have a new nickname, well it happened again!

Since being here, I have been given at least 3 nicknames & now another one which has an origin similar ot a previous one, made because someone said my name wrong.

I won't say what the nicknames are, but instead ask the question, is there something wrong with my name? For those who know, my emails always end with my full name & I even sign with my full name, I am, generally speaking, a proud person. But as I said before, with some people it only feels right if they call me by a certain nickname.

Technology

My laptop is probably not getting fixed, so the only thing left to do is back up what I need & start looking for a new one.

We are constantly having internet issues here, really makes me think of the dependance on technology these days.

I'm in the single digits in terms of number of days until I am enroute to home!

Last moments & planning to leave

As the countdown on the right gets lower, I think about how it is also my last weekend in Karachi. This weekend will be when new CEEDs come to Karachi, i've already started preparing for what I need to do before I leave, most of my trip has been professionally working, but I connected a lot with some of the people here & it will be very hard to leave. At the same time I am looking forward to seeing some people from back home who I haven't seen in SO long. I probably won't get to see a lot of people since in about a week I am back on a plane.

Pacman!

So, the AIESEC Pakistan MC Team & I were filmed/interviewed yesterday, we'll have another filming next week & then there will be 2 shows! (for those reading this, you'll get to see it, even if you don't want to!)

Anyways, today I went to the bank, & it was the first time I went to the bank in Pakistan, after finishing I heard a video game theme song. I was like, "I KNOW WHAT THAT IS!!!"

It was Pacman!!!

I had 2 questions in mind:

1) Why is a grown man playing pacman during business hours at a bank???

2) Can I play??? :)

This is one of the best advertisements i've seen in a while, I think it's very fitting to describe how i'm currently feeling as I plan for the end of the CEED. I was kind of expecting to see AIESEC at the end of this.

Internet!!!

We finally have internet at home!

AND, we are simply "borrowing" a neighbours connection!

I was resorting to go to a coffee shop with wifi & having to buy a drink just to use my own laptop to do some work, but hopefully this will last!

*Update: My laptop is injured, I was closing it, possibly with the cap of my memory stick in side, & it now has a crack in the moniter which means that almost half the screen can't be seen. This is pretty upsetting, I love my laptop, & now i'll have to transfer everything onto a dvd so I can continue working & then get it repaired which will take time but will also cost a lot (like $300 - $500, I think) Poor Sonya.

This is somewhat about AIESEC & I know I apparently have a whole other blog for this but, well you'll see.

So, i'm sitting here, in Karachi (Pakistan) thinking about how it is to be here, let me set up the scenario:

I'm on an LC visit, but the whole MC team went to an LC visit to the other LC in another city (Lahore). So I have the MC apartment to myself, this is a 3 bedroom place, which includes a private roof that is amazing! (i'll try & upload pictures soon)

I'm too lazy to cook, I have SO many drinks (non-alcoholic) left over from the MC house warming party, & it's SO hot. So, while doing my own laundry (by hand! that's right ladies, add that to the list) I was like, it's SO hot!!!

So, if it takes a little longer than usual for me to answer the door, it is because it is VERY hot & no one else is home! (side note, I am wearing clothes, just not very much)

Canada Day!

I have to stop making sports predictions on this blog (0/4 for the semi finals)

I'll be SO busy all week, it's crazy thinking about this month in weeks, it feels like i'm leaving really soon!
