Long time no post, Long post!
Things are really fast paced right now but i'm at a point where there's "the calm before the storm"
I finished 4 exams in 4 days, most of them went well, i'm not too happy with todays exam, but generally speaking most people found it to be a tough exam
Friday is my next exam so i'm doing some AIESEC work/CEED prep so i'll give me less to do after Friday.
I went for an interview for the visa last week, it was such a formality but done because the Indian consulate gives as much trouble to a Pakistani person trying to go to India (here's an idea, just don't give any trouble to each other!) I should have that visa this week, then i'll have to apply for the Indian one (SO last minute, SO not like me!) My dad recently got a Person of Indian Origin card, so now (among other things) he has visa free entry to India (for up to 6 months) for 15 years, he'll probably upgrade it soon to an Overseas Citizen of India. And then there's me, who has to PAY to go MY own country!!! Now there are some friends of mine who has said that I was raised in Canada & I always say how I was BORN in India & the first 5 years of a childs life is VERY important for development, but yes I have been in Canada longer, & yes this trip will be my first in almost 16 years, but I WAS MADE IN INDIA!!!
Moving on, I am quite excited about NLDC, I am calling it the best conference ever already! This is because of what should be a part of the content (AIESEC 2010), the fact that the MQB is legislating things & that I am leading a Working Group on Exchange Evaluations!!! I am meeting with some of the MC tomorrow to discuss NLDC after signing a JQ & making some phone calls in the day.
It was crazy! I was talking to Tai (MCVPF, AIESEC Canada, MC Responsible for the MQB) about when we're meeting to go over some things, & I said Friday morning/early afternoon was fine, I had an exam that night, but we needed to meet as soon as possible. She said no. I was shocked so I couldn't find the words to respond. She asked when I didn't have an exam, I mentioned the gap in my exam schedule & she said we'll meet then. I was still shocked. It is MY exam, how is SHE going to tell ME when I'LL have MY meetings???!!! Oh the power that is Tai!!! (I was going to post about JUST this, but was scared that she (or someone who may have told her) would see it)
I've been reading A LOT recently, business articles/books, about strategy & quality, to see if there is anything else that the MQB would do this year (there are some upcoming things, but I wanted to make sure I covered everything, i'm a third of the way finished my term!)
So Nida has been commenting asking about my "trip" to Lahore, I also emailed some AIESECers who I haven't met yet but got in touch with & will try & meet up with when i'm in India. The problem? Again something that isn't like me, things are concrete yet! The tentative plan was to go to Lahore for like a day, then cross the Wagha border to attend the wedding. Then i'll go around India, my dad has some business to do, I have some shopping to do (mostly not for me), i'll do some AIESEC work while i'm there, spending as much money as I need to to have internet access. But NOW, a friend of mine will also be in Pakistan, in the Northern part, when I could be there. So i'm trying to go with the flow, but I WANT concrete plans!
That's basically been my life the past week or so, exams & AIESEC, i'm looking forward to finishing exams so that I can focus on the summer, there's a lot to do to prepare for it but i'm trying to remember that it should be fun too.
I can't even do a true basketball update since I only know because I have to read it online rather than getting to watch the games (on television of course, Raptors should be back in the playoffs in a year or so...) There's about 2 months until the NBA Draft, the NFL Draft is coming up, the NHL playoffs are also going on & I think some guys are hitting a ball with a stick (not cricket so it doesn't matter!)
I'm aiming for more balance in life & hoping this summer could really help with that, i'm kind of in between excited about leaving & thinking about the things i'll miss while i'm away, I was supposed to do some more reading & prepare a schedule for these final 2 weeks, but instead I posted this & then went to sleep.
